After the phenomenal success of Hildafolk (Nobrow © 2010) we are very pleased to announce that Hilda is being granted her own album-style series, beginning with Hilda and the Midnight Giant. In the first volume of the new series, Hilda finds her world turned upside down as she faces the prospect of leaving her snow-capped birthplace for the hum of the megalopolis. Her mother, an architect, has been offered a prestigious position in the bustling metropolis that she would find hard to reject. Besides, the tiny elven creatures making a daily habit of bombarding them with threats isn’t making Hilda’s case any better. As she seeks ways to stall her mother’s decision, Hilda rushes to befriend the very source of her malady – will they help or hinder her? More importantly, who is this mysterious Midnight Giant?

“From Hildafolk to Everything We Miss, Luke Pearson seems to have a ‘thing’ about the unseen, the invisible, those uncanny occurrences and critters sharing our world but never being noticed by us. Pour certains, la ville symbolise leur lieu de naissance ou de résidence, mais pour la plupart d’entre nous, c’est un lieu qui s’est construit pendant des années de dur labeur et de persévérance, pour devenir peu à peu notre lieu de vie: un endroit calme et serein, mais aux origines souvent pénibles.

Pour son premier roman graphique, Jon McNaught nous offre un portrait plein d’indulgence de tout ce que nous faisons (et ne faisons pas) lors un jour de repos, pour nous amuser et passer le temps, en laissant libre cours aux idiosyncrasies de nos voisins et à notre imagination. Jon McNaught a reçu un diplôme en illustration de l’université de West England en 2007. Il habite actuellement à Bristol, où il travaille comme graveur et illustrateur freelance. Il dessine aussi des bandes dessinées pour différentes publications. We are proud to announce that as of recently the cogs of the small press studio have been whirring back into action to produce a variety of lovingly hand printed products, the first of which for the New Year is an offering from French artist Emmanuel Kerner.

Kerner has been producing some of the most colourful and original work on the French children’s publishing and editorial illustration scene for a number of years, earning him, amongst other things teaching positions at Parsons Paris and the prestigious Atelier de Sèvres (also in Paris). He has worked for clients such as the International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, and produced a number of books for Albin Michel Jeunesse, in our opinion one of the best and most innovative children’s publishers in the world (they were also responsible for publishing, for example, Gens by Blexbolex).

For us he has created the rich and colourful concertina ‘Battlefield’ which betrays its name for its sheer beauty and vibrancy. It was printed using four colours in an edition of just 50 copies. He’s a popular artist, don’t miss your chance to own an original print concertina.
